Atopic Festival 2009 - grande succes

I was more then pleased to hear that my machinima "The body is Obsolete" has won one of the 3 audience awards at the Atopic Festival in Paris.

This festival showed how machinima is contributing to the world. More then 5000 visitors attended, and the private evening dedicated to Machinima of November 2nd in the Geode was a success. 350 persons attended the projection of the Machinima ‘VolaVola " of Berardo Carboni and 3 films selected by the public and the selection committee : L'Hôtel of Benjamin Nuel, Clockwork of Ian Friar, The Body is Obsolete of Chantal Harvey.

A good media coverage allowed to inform a wide international public (the press review is in progress). Soon the pictures and videos of the festival will be shown on this website http://www.atopicfestival.com

The Human Atopic Space association, the organizer and the producer of the Atopic Festival 2009, continues its missions of production, diffusion and artists accompaniment.

For more information about the association: http://www.humanatopicspace.com

The exploration of the virtual worlds continues. Atopic 2010 will be an exhibition, performances, conferences and Machinima film festival !
It was an honour and a pleasure to be part of this, will most definate visit in 2010.

1minARTchannel

I started a new youtube account for my 1 minute art machinima project. I will create 100 machinima's with ART as the common factor, and making a documentary of these when done. It will take me a year to do so, I believe.

http://www.youtube.com/user/1minARTchannel

The first 6 are done........

I welcome feedback and suggestions.

Almost got the money for a new top computer with 2 Nividia 295 cards --- upgrading to HD quality.

Festival was a huge succes

the MMIF festival on Feb.28, 2009, was a huge succes. Nearly all machinima makers attended, some with their crew and cast, and many friends came. Tim raised the sim limit to 100 - and 99 came! So, no idea why people were complaining that they couldnt get in (lol). For a full 6 hours, the sim was busy. Opening was done by Lauren Weyland, and yours truly.

Each hour was hosted by celebs from machinima-society, who joined me on stage:
* Lauren Weyland
* Judi Newall
* Evie Fairchaild
* Poid Mahovlich and Dizzy Banjo
* Rafale Kamachi
* Phaylen Fairchild

Some Lindens came, and machinimatographors from all over the world celebrated each and every film. Asking questions, sharing - All I ever intended to do with this festival is creating a strong machinima community - as it is a lonely occupation... So: we succeeded i believe. Since the festival, several projects started amongst filmmakers.

The real life part rocked - as hard we did in Second Life: the PlanetArt building in Amsterdam was packed! Ze Moo and Starshine Halasy showed us images of the loaction tru a connected webcam, so yes - sl was watching rl! Big virtual brother was watching, and all the machinima s were watched in rl too. They were excited about the quality of the machinima s shown. Some were done in Halflife, some in Poser and Iclone, most in Second Life. Such quality!
And, how different are our approaches.

It was busy, so busy that I never noticed that a bunch of griefers came to the filmplot - and heard afterwards that they came - sat down - and watched the films. LOL! That, summons the event.

To share, watch, enjoy, discuss and promote our machinima ‘s with the world. To celebrate machinima, and show each other what can be done.
So, not a contest, but a Celebration – all about enjoyment and love for the genre.

Chantal Harvey is Mamachinima.

Mamachinima - my nickname!

It started as a joke, and now became my (serious) brandname.
To be the mother of machinima is a bit far-fetched, but making machinima surely is my drive and keeps me going. Pushing boundaries, always striving for more. Meeting all sorts of people with the same passion - if anything, this is what makes it all worthwile.

I am organising a machinima festival on feb. 28, 2009, in Second Life.
Contact me trough mail or inworld for details, and read this blog for regular updates.
